If the damage is isolated — one leaking join, a single sagging run, a blocked downpipe — a repair is usually the sensible option. If the same problems keep coming back, or the deterioration runs the length of the house, replacement is the cheaper path over time because you stop paying repeatedly for the same fault.

The misconception we correct most often on Gold Coast quotes: a leaking gutter doesn’t always just need a patch. Coastal salt air rusts cheap steel from the inside out, so by the time a leak shows, the metal is often thin along the whole run — and a patch simply moves the leak a metre down the gutter. Two or three call-outs later, a replacement would have been the cheaper job.

As a guide, expect $88–$105 per lineal metre including GST, supply and install. Because these vary so much between houses, the only honest number is one measured on your roof. Quotes are free and obligation-free.

Salt air, storms and Gold Coast gutters

Homes close to the beach and along the canals sit in a marine environment, and salt-laden air is corrosive to metal. That does not mean coastal gutters fail overnight — but it does mean the profile, the coating and the fixings you choose matter more here than they do further inland, and it is worth talking through before the job is booked rather than after.

The other factor is rain volume. Gold Coast storms drop a lot of water quickly, so a gutter that is undersized, laid to a poor fall, or half-full of leaf litter will overflow long before it rusts. If your gutters overflow in a heavy summer downpour but look fine on a dry day, that is usually a capacity or fall problem, not a corrosion problem — and the fix is different.

How long does a gutter replacement take?

Most full home gutter replacements are completed in one day, depending on access and layout. Larger or two-storey homes with difficult access can run into a second day.

Who actually turns up to do the job?

If the board itself has rotted or rusted through, you are looking at a fascia and gutter replacement on the Gold Coast rather than a re-gutter on its own — the fascia has to go back on new before the guttering is hung.

My gutters overflow in heavy rain. Do I need a replacement?

Not always. Overflowing can be leaf blockage, an incorrect fall, or guttering that is simply undersized for the roof area feeding it. The first is a cleaning job, the second and third are not. We’ll identify which one it is before recommending anything.

How soon can you start, and how long is the quote valid?

Most Gold Coast re-gutters start 1–3 weeks after you accept the quote, weather depending, and every quote is valid for 60 days — so you have room to decide without being rushed.

Do I need to be home on the day?

Not necessarily, as long as we have clear access to the roofline and a way to reach the downpipes. Just clear the side access, move anything fragile off patios under the eaves, and keep pets inside — we handle the rest, including sweeping up for stray screws and offcuts before we leave.
